Frank Cvetnich Inducted - Cleveland 1975 |
||||||||||
Frank Cvetnich of Detroit has made accomplishments in his lifetime which will be remembered for years to come. |
||||||||||
Mr. Cvetnich was born in Europe and came to America at the age of 16 in 1913. He started to play the bugarija at the age of six. Mr. Cvetnich was not given the opportunity to take music lessons. Therefore, his accomplishments were made possible by many hours of practice and the natural talent with which he was born. |

The first group he played with was "Bratstvom". He played with this group for about three years. The next group was called "Balkan Serenaders". He played over a local radio station and toured the country playing at various theaters. When he left the "Balkan Serenaders", he joined "Buducnost" with whom he performed for 25 years. When "Buducnost" disbanded, he joined another Detroit group called the "Balkan Cavaliers" and played with them until he retired. His tambura does not accumulate dust. Mr. Cvetnich still performs at functions with the Yugoslav Senior Citizens, and he is still active at the age of 78. |

Through the years in his spare time he composed music and lyrics. With each composition he made arrangements for all instruments in the tamburitza family. (This accomplishment was difficult since he plays only the bugarija.) In addition, he has composed approximately 30 songs and many have been recorded by various orchestras. Mr. Cvetnich has also written several concert numbers. |
